Appa Rao found out first hand just how much money is needed to start and run a business when he opened Hema Electronics, an electronics and home appliances showroom in Visakhapatnam. He started his business over a decade ago, after working as a salesman and Collection Officer. He poured Rs. 3 lakhs of his own savings into it when he started the business, and kept drawing on his savings for capital but it was not enough to keep his operations running smoothly. He struggled to keep his business supplied with capital and put all expansion plans on the back burner, because he simply did not have the means to support them.
