The Covid-19 pandemic took a toll on the livelihoods of many families, and Prativaben’s was one of them. Many of her neighbours and friends lost their jobs, and she too became the sole earner in the family. With a family of five to take care of, Prativaben was wracked with the fear of not being able to put food on the table for her family, but SEWA, supported by Kinara, came to her aid.
Even as Covid cases surged in her city, Prativaben was happy to be able to keep coming to work, with all the precautions in place. It helped her keep her family safe and well cared for. She shared, “I was able to provide for my family. Our cooperative was able to secure our work partly because of the resource support, which we received as working capital.”
